The Ad Maiora Angoras - Mohair Dyed 3ply Yarn is 100% New Zealand grown and processed. Made from a blend of 80% Young Goat Mohair and 20% Fine Merino. This yarn is perfect for all types of work. No two skeins are exactly the same.

Mohair, also known as the “noble fibre” or the “diamond fibre” is growing in popularity. Mohair yarn is prized by knitters and crocheters for its special qualities:

Outstanding lustre and shine - the lustre of mohair is one of its most important characteristics. The outer scales of the mohair fibre reflect light, giving garments made with mohair a natural sheen. This lustre helps dyed mohair to resist fading over time. Wrinkle resistant - mohair can stretch an average of 30% over its entire length before being able to spring back into shape. Because of this characteristic, mohair products do not wrinkle, stretch or sag during wearing. High affinity for dyes - mohair takes dye exceptionally well. Mohair yarns are usually recognizable for their vivid saturated colours and because of the fibre structure the dye does not easily fade after use. Moisture wicking - mohair absorbs about 30% of its weight in moisture – without the wearer even noticing. It also dries rapidly. These properties allow it to remain cool in summer. Great insulator - making it feel warm in winter. Strong and durable - it is one of the world’s strongest and most durable fibres, due to its unique structure. Mohair is extremely durable because of its high tensile strength. Garments made with mohair will therefore last a very long time.
