Returns & Exchanges

We understand that shopping online can be tricky, especially when you haven’t tried it on or felt the fabric. That’s why we offer a flexible and fair returns policy to give you peace of mind. 

If you're not completely happy with your purchase, you’re welcome to return it for an exchange, store credit, or full refund if your return meets our conditions.

Return Timeframes and Conditions

  • For New Zealand orders, items must be returned within 14 days of delivery. For International orders, items must be returned within 30 days of delivery.

  • Returned items must be in original, unworn, and unwashed condition, with all tags still attached. They must also be free from any signs of wear or damage, including stains (e.g. from makeup or fake tan), strong scents (such as perfume, tobacco, or deodorant), or residue from washing products. We do not accept returns on items which have been custom-made for your specific measurements e.g. Aran Hand Knits. We reserve the right to decline returns that do not meet these criteria.

How to Return an Item

  1. Complete a Returns Form (PDF) and include it with your return. No printer? Handwrite all the required details.

  2. Package your item securely.

  3. Send it back to the following address: Returns - The Tin Shed. 809 Rangitata-Orari Bridge Highway. 22 R.D., Geraldine 7992. New Zealand. 

Return shipping is at your own expense. We recommend using a tracked service and retaining your tracking information, as we cannot take responsibility for lost or damaged parcels. Returns are usually processed within 5 business days of receiving your item.

Exchanges

Exchange via New Order (Recommended): Place a new order for the item you’d like instead, then send back the original item with the Returns Form (PDF). We’ll issue a full refund or store credit once we receive your return. This is the fastest and easiest method for all, and the only method for international customers.

Exchange Size and Colour Only via Return (New Zealand Customers Only): Return the item with the Returns Form (PDF), noting the size and colour for the item you'd like in exchange. Once we receive your return, we’ll check stock and contact you to confirm availability. If it's unavailable, we’ll issue a refund or offer store credit. If the item is available, we’ll arrange payment for return postage before dispatching it. Postage for exchange items is at your cost.

Refunds & Store Credit

Once we receive your return, we’ll process your refund or store credit according to your selection on the Returns Form (PDF). Refunds are issued via the same method used for your purchase (e.g. PayPal, Afterpay, credit card) and may take up to 4 business days to appear in your account.

All refunds are issued in New Zealand Dollars (NZD). We are not responsible for any currency conversion differences or international transaction fees. Shipping charges, duties, and international taxes (including Australian GST) are non-refundable. If returning an item from a multi-buy offer, any refund will be adjusted to reflect the terms of the original promotion.

Faulty or Incorrect Items

At The Tin Shed, we strive to ensure that all orders are packed correctly and that our products meet the highest standards. However, we understand that mistakes can happen, and we sincerely apologise if you have received a faulty or incorrect item.

If you’ve received an item that is faulty or incorrect, please get in touch with us as soon as possible by emailing shop@thetinshed.co.nz or calling +64 3 693 9416. Let us know your order number and the item details, and include clear photos if the product is faulty. Once we have confirmed the issue, we will arrange a replacement, refund, or exchange, and we will also reimburse all shipping costs.

Gift Returns

If you received an item as a gift and would like to return it, we can offer store credit for the value of the item. Please contact us with the name of the person who placed the order, and we’ll help you from there.
