We ship our products both within New Zealand and internationally. This page outlines our dispatch timelines, delivery methods, environmental initiatives, and important information about international customs and duties.
Order Dispatch
All orders are dispatched as soon as possible and within 5 working days of your order being received. In the event of any anticipated delay beyond this window, customers will be contacted by email or phone with an update.
During busy periods such as Christmas, New Zealand public holidays, and promotional events, both order processing and courier delivery times are likely to be longer than usual. While we do our best to dispatch orders promptly, we recommend allowing extra time for your parcel to arrive during these times.
Nationwide Delivery (New Zealand)
Once dispatched, parcels are delivered within 1–3 working days to urban addresses. Deliveries to rural areas may take up to an additional 3 working days.
We primarily use New Zealand Couriers Overnight Delivery for fast and trackable service. For parcels of unusual size or shape, New Zealand Post may be used instead. All delivery methods include full tracking, with tracking links provided via email upon shipment.
International Shipping
International shipping is available via two methods:

DHL Express: Delivers within 4–6 working days after dispatch. DHL does not deliver to P.O. Boxes in Australia; a physical address is required.

International Air Post: Delivery ranges from 2–6 weeks, depending on the destination.
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the destination and parcel weight. Tracking information is provided once the order has shipped.
Commitment to Sustainability
At The Tin Shed, we’re committed to actively reducing our greenhouse gas emissions beyond just sourcing local materials. In addition we offer:

Click & Collect: Local customers can order online and collect their purchases in-store, eliminating shipping emissions entirely.

DHL GoGreen Plus: For international orders, we partner with DHL’s GoGreen Plus program. This carbon-offsetting initiative invests in renewable energy and climate protection projects to reduce the emissions associated with shipping.

Customs, Duties & Border Inspections
International shipments may be subject to customs inspections, particularly in the United Kingdom, Canada and Europe. Australia and the USA do not usually have these. These inspections can occasionally delay delivery times. Additionally, import duties, VAT, or other customs charges may be applied by the destination country’s customs authority. Any fees are the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in the purchase price or shipping costs charged by The Tin Shed.
In many cases, customs fees are approximately equivalent to the New Zealand GST (Goods and Services Tax), which is deducted from overseas orders at checkout. We strongly recommend that customers familiarise themselves with their local customs regulations before placing an order.
If your parcel is shipped via DHL, the courier will contact you directly before the parcel arrives in your country to arrange payment, helping to avoid delays. For parcels sent via International Air, the shipment may be held pending a response from the recipient regarding any applicable customs charges.

Urgent Orders
Customers who require faster dispatch due to time-sensitive needs can submit a request during checkout by including a note with the required delivery date. If the specified timeframe appears achievable, the order will be prioritised for immediate processing. Where it is unlikely the parcel can be delivered on time, customers will be contacted to discuss alternative solutions such as expedited shipping, a substitute item, or cancellation.
Please note that while efforts are made to prioritise urgent orders, delivery timelines are subject to third-party courier performance and cannot be guaranteed once the parcel is in transit.
Missing Deliveries
If a parcel has not arrived within a reasonable time frame, customers are encouraged to contact us directly via email at shop@thetinshed.co.nz or by calling +64 3 693 9416.
Parcels marked with Authority to Leave or Signature Not Required at the customer's request are not covered for replacement or refund if they are lost or stolen after delivery has been completed.
