Description

This elegant and classic hat is handcrafted in New Zealand from pure lambskin and Possum fur. The dome shaped crown fits the head closely and is made up from six shaped panels. The close fitting crown ensures that the head is kept cosy and warm in cold temperatures.

The tan colour option has a suede finish on the outside and the cream, red and black colour options have a nappa finish (shiny leather finish). The inside is finished with a natural lambswool. The natural tonings of the sumptuous possum fur band, which surrounds the hat brim, contrast beautifully with the colour of the lambskin suede.

Possum fur has extraordinary insulating properties and the fur band contributes an extra layer of warmth to the outer edges of the hat. See our hat sizing chart for your size.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a natural hand made product, therefore colours and fur thickness varies. This is because this product is made using animal resources, the natural diversity within lambswool and possum coat colour factors into the variation of these hats. Please be aware of this when purchasing this product online, no two hats are the same. This is specifically the case when ordering the Tan colour as its not been dyed like the Black, White and Red.

Beautiful, excellent craftsmanship

I was looking online for a hat or cap to take to Japan, across the northern Pacific, to Alaska and Canada. I measured my head, purchased the large and now I have no doubt my head and ears will stay toasty warm. The sizing is spot on. The Tin Shed stayed in touch with me regularly, confirming colour, letting me know about the dyeing of the fur, updating progress and shipping date plus giving a perfect estimate of arrival in Australia. The soft wool on the inside of the leather is amazing, I didn't read the product description fully about the slinkskin, so the gorgeous soft wool was a lovely surprise! The possum fur has been really nicely tanned, it's soft and pliable while holding its shape. I purchased the black leather (so soft too!) with brown possum fur and the brown is unbelievable - lots of variation in the colour adding real richness to it. It looks and feels exceptional. All in all, I love it! Even wore it in our current 37c heat to try it out.

I just love my New Zealand Hat.

I saw my hat at the Tin Shed. But at the time I didn't see my size. I saw other versions of the hat in the different malls. They were not made as nice as what I saw at The Tin Shed. So I thought and thought about the hat when I returned home. I decided to go on line and make the purchase. I'm very very happy with my purchase. I wear it proudly as a reminder of my beautiful trip to New Zealand.
